PARK CITY, Kansas – A box of abandoned kittens was left at a Park City restaurant.

A cook at Cancun Mexican Grill found the kittens right next to their dumpster while taking out the trash last night.

Still there this morning, a waitress called animal control to pick up the kittens.

Whomever dumped the kittens also left behind a mattress and box spring.

“When he told our manager there was kittens back here, he almost cried. I think we all almost did. We were worried more about the kittens than our tables,” said Rosa Zamora, waitress.

The Kansas Humane Society says a better option is to always bring your unwanted animals and pets to the shelter.

They say this situation is a reminder of the importance of spaying and neutering your pets. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
