Wichita goes Nuts in Gary


GARY, Indiana – – C. J. Ziegler hits for the cycle as the Wichita Wingnuts defeated the Gary SouthShore Railcats 18 to 5 Wednesday night.

Ziegler homered in the first inning and tripled in the third. After reaching on an error in the fourth, he walked to lead off the lead off the seventh.

Ziegler hit a double in his second plate appearance in the seventh and singled to complete the cycle in the ninth.

Ziegler finished the night four-for-six with three runs scored and four runs batted in.

Junior Guerra picked up the win to run his record to 9 and 4. Guerra pitched six innings striking out nine with only one walk.

The series wraps up Thursday afternoon at 12:10 p.m.  Anthony Capra faces right-hander Billy Spottiswood.
The Wingnuts return home on Friday, August 23rd when they host the Grand Prairie AirHogs.
