Covina bans medical marijuana dispensaries

COVINA, Calif. (AP) — Covina has become the latest Southern California city to ban medical marijuana dispensaries.

The San Gabriel Valley Tribune ( ) says the City Council adopted an ordinance Tuesday banning all types of pot dispensaries, including mobile units. A staff report says a handful of dispensaries outside town advertise delivery to the Los Angeles suburb.

The state Supreme Court gave cities permission to ban pot shops in a May ruling involving a Riverside case.
