JSU awarded $10.7 million grant

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Jackson State University has been awarded a $10.7 million grant from the National Institutes of Health-National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities.

The university says in a news release the money was given to JSU’s Minority Institutions Center for Environmental Health.

The five-year grant will be used to support research on environmental and public health issues affecting vulnerable and underserved communities.

The grant will support research on environmentally-induced diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and asthma.
