Dietary supplement producer expanding in Ala.

OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) — Opelika Mayor Gary Fuller has announced that dietary supplement producer, Pharmavite, will expand and hire nearly 20 new employees in the next two years.

Fuller said Monday that the company is planning to invest $16.6 million in its expansion and is looking to hire 17 additional employees. The company moved into Opelika in September of 2011 and currently employs 245 people at its $73 million facility.

Pharmavite produces and distributes more than 120 products in the U.S. and more than 100 products around the world.

The company’s Opelika site director Lance Buchanon says the support Pharmavite has gotten from the local community has exceeded the company’s expectations since they first announced plans to open a facility there.
