Arizona senator reflects on scorpion sting

PHOENIX (AP) — U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake says it took about a day for the numbness in his arm to go away.

The Arizona Republican was stung on the hand by a scorpion while he was mowing the lawn in his backyard in northeast Mesa earlier this week. He posted a picture of the scorpion on his Twitter account Wednesday.

He tells The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/19yEM3W) that he toughed it out and didn’t even take any aspirin.

Flake described it much like an ant bite and said: “Come on, it’s not that bad.”

The senator says his yard is teeming with scorpions because his neighborhood is on the site of former citrus orchards.
