Petersburg-area residents sought for cancer study

PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) — The American Cancer Society is seeking 200 residents in the Petersburg area to participate in a cancer prevention study.

Participants must be between ages 30 and 65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer.

The organization hopes to enroll 300,000 participants nationwide.

The Progress-Index ( ) reports that enrollment in Petersburg will be held Oct. 3 at Good Shepherd Baptist Church and Oct. 5. at Tabernacle Baptist Church.

The CP3-study is part of a series of American Cancer Studies that began in the 1950s.
