Derby man sentenced for soliciting a child

Leon Knabe

WICHITA, Kansas — A Derby man was sentenced Wednesday for a crime involving a five-year-old boy.

A judge gave Leon Knabe, 57, nearly three years in prison for aggravated indecent solicitation of a child. After he serves his time, he will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Knabe pleaded guilty just before his trial was set to begin in June.

He is a former coordinator of youth soccer at a church in Derby.
