Butler County warning residents of telephone scam

ELDORADO, Kansas – The Butler County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a possible telephone scam targeting the elderly.

Residents have reported receiving a recorded style telephone message from a gentleman introducing himself as John. He is representing himself as an employee of El Dorado Home Health attempting to schedule delivery of Emergency Medical Alert Systems, possibly gaining information about when residents are away from home.

El Dorado Home Health has stated they have not tasked anyone to schedule delivery of any medical equipment and have begun contacting patients to tell them of the scam.

The telephone number being identified is 716-817-8527, originating in Buffalo New York.

Residents are urged not to give out their personal information or schedules to anyone that does not seem legitimate.
