Teenager killed in Ottawa County accident

OTTAWA COUNTY, Kansas – – An Abilene teenager is dead following an accident late Friday night in Ottawa County.

The crash killed 18-year-old Samantha Hosie of Abilene.

The accident happened after 11 p.m. Friday night on US Highway 81 in Ottawa County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a pickup was southbound on US 81 when the driver avoided to miss an animal in the roadway. The pickup entered the west ditch of the highway and overturned.

The KHP identified the driver as 32-year-old Earl Anderson of Mantua, Nebraska. Charlotte Anderson, age 37, of Abilene and 20-year-old Tanner Grizzle of Herington were passengers in the pickup.

All were taken to Salina Regional Medical Center for treatment.
