Suspect in custody after shooting involving Kingman County officers

KINGMAN, Kansas –  A suspect is in custody following a chase that led officers from Kingman County into Sumner County.

Officers from the Kingman County Sheriff’s Office and Kingman Police Department attempted to serve an arrest warrant in Norwich. As the officers approached the home, a suspect tried to flee the residence in a vehicle. The vehicle nearly struck two officers that were on foot. An officer fired at the suspect vehicle.

The chase lead into Sumner County where the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect did have a gunshot wound. Medical help was given and the suspect was taken to Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita. The suspect was treated and released and taken into custody by Kingman County officers. The suspect was taken to the Kingman County Jail.

The shooting is being investigated by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation along with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, Kingman County Sheriff’s Office and Kingman Police Department.
