Springfield doctor gets Missourian Award

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — A Springfield plastic surgeon is among 14 recipients of the 2013 Missourian Award.

The Springfield News-Leader reports (http://sgfnow.co/15jYiIB ) Dr. Bharat Shah is being honored with the Missourian Award for his contributions to medicine. He works with Mercy Research and Development and has invented four medical devices.

Past award recipients include Walt Disney, Walter Cronkite and John Q. Hammons.

This year’s Missourian Awards will be presented Saturday in Jefferson City.

Other winners this year include Bob Beine, president of Beine Automotive Group; Cheryl Burnett, Missouri State University director of development and Norm Ridder, superintendent of Springfield Public Schools.
