Wingnuts win seventh straight game

POMOMA, New York – – The Wichita Wingnuts beat the Rockland Boulders 15 to 3 Wednesday night winning the first three games of the series against Can Am League opponent.

The victory is the seventh win in a row for Wichita.

In the third inning, John Rodriguez singled and went to second on a walk. Brent Clevlen doubled home Rodriguez to tie the game at 2. Cole Armstrong grounder to second scored C. J. Ziegler with the game leading run. Madison Beaird doubled to put Wichita ahead 4 to 2.

Wichita scored eight runs on seven hits with 14 batter appearance in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Chris Smith won for the eighth time this year. Smith gave up two earned runs on two hits. Smith struck out four and had two walks in seven innings. Smith retired his final 13 batters.

The series concludes Thursday. Justin Klipp will be the Wingnuts  starter.

Wichita comes home to host Gary on Tuesday night following the NBC World Series.
