Wingnuts clinch winning season by beating Rockland

POMONA, New York – – Kevin Hooper will have his 5th straight winning season managing the Wichita Wingnuts.

Wichita beat the Rockland Boulders 7 to 5 Tuesday afternoon.

With Rockland leading 4 to 3 in the top of the eighth inning, the Wingnuts scored four times to take the lead.

Abel Nieves hit a double followed by a pinch hit single from Cole Armstrong to tie the game. Ryan Khoury was hit by pitch with the bases loaded to score Madison Beaird from third with the g0-ahead run. John Rodriguez drove home two with a single up the middle.

Nick Walters got the win in relef with a 1-2-3 set down in the seventh inning.

Josh Dew struck out two in the bottom of the ninth to get his 19th save of the season.

The Wingnuts and Boulders continue the series Wednesday night.

Wichita returns home next Tuesday following the NBC World Series.
