Aug. 6. ALL DAY. SAFETY STAND DOWN — The U.S. Department of Labor s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, along with trade associations and employers throughout Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, will conduct a one-hour safety stand-down at construction sites and workplaces on Tuesday, Aug. 6. The stand-down supports OSHA s nationwide outreach campaign to raise awareness among employers and workers about the hazards of falls.

Aug. 7. 10 a.m. ISAKSON-ATLANTA VA FIELD HEARING — U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., will chair a Senate Veterans Affairs Committee field hearing in Atlanta, Ga., on Wednesday, August 7, at 10 a.m. to examine the April 2013 reports from the Department of Veterans Affairs Inspector General detailing mismanagement of inpatient and contracted outpatient mental health programs at the Atlanta VA Medical Center in the wake of three veteran suicides and to address the steps the VA has taken to improve the mental health care provided in all of their facilities.
