Charges filed in fatal crash that killed elderly woman

WICHITA, Kansas – Charges have been filed in a fatal crash that killed an elderly woman in June.

Arlene Root died after the 1950 Plymouth she was driving was hit by a pickup near Central and West Street.

Investigators say 34-year-old Matthew Mabry of El Dorado was driving that truck that drifted into oncoming traffic.

He has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, driving under the influence, possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia and other charges.

His preliminary hearing is set for August 7.
