NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Head coach Bob Stoops has kicked off his 15th season at the helm of the University of Oklahoma football program with the opening of the Sooners’ fall camp.

The Sooners began camp Thursday with an early-morning breakfast and then hit the OU Rugby fields for a walk-through. Practice began at 6 a.m.

Stoops says the squad has a great attitude and work ethic. He says coaches are anxious to have a chance to start coaching the players and make improvements as the year progresses.

Stoops says redshirt sophomore quarterback Kendal Thompson suffered a right foot fracture during practice. He says Thompson was scheduled to undergo a surgical procedure and should return early in the season. He says Thompson has a very positive outlook and is eager to rejoin the team.
