WICHITA, Kansas – A city council candidate who came under fire for a coupon connected to his campaign earlier this year has been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing.
Craig Gabel had an election handout for a meal at Mike’s Steakhouse, a restaurant he owns.
On Thursday, the District Attorney Marc Bennett said the card appears to have have been in “substantial compliance” with the rule of the law, and he won’t file any criminal violations against Gabel.
The district attorney investigated campaign finance filings and threat allegations in “The Wichita Post” and found Gabel did not violate the law in those incidents.
