5 nurses hurt in golf cart crash at C. Ind. camp

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A golf cart crash at a central Indiana camp has injured five nurses, including one critically.

Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis says the nurse in critical condition was airlifted there and that it’s treating two others.

The crash occurred at Bradford Woods, an outdoor center operated by Indiana University just south of Martinsville. Bradford Woods Director Shay Dawson says in a statement that the cart was going down a paved road at the facility when it rolled onto its side Thursday afternoon and ejected the nurses. He says all of the nurses were transported to hospitals.

He says the five nurses were working for Camp Little Red Door, which offers services to children with cancer, and Camp Independence, whose campers are fighting cancer or sickle cell anemia.
