Two Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputies charged with making false information

WICHITA, Kansas – The Sedgwick County Sheriff says two deputies were arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail after a criminal investigation found possible crimes of making false information and official misconduct.

The investigation focused on two deputies who work in the transportation section said Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter. Easter would not name the deputies, but an arrest report KSN News obtained shows Deputy David Dwayne Spears and Deputy Brenton Emmeran Johnson were arrested and charged.

Spears was charged Wednesday morning is Sedgwick County District Court with two counts of making false information.

Johnson was also charged with two counts of making false information and one count of official misconduct

Both deputies, who have worked a total of 29 years for the county, are on administrative leave without pay.

Both deputies bonded out of jail Tuesday evening.
