WICHITA, Kansas – Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting at 15th and Green that happened late Wednesday night.

Police arrived at the scene after patrolling nearby and found a 25-year-old African-American male with gunshot wounds to his chest.

He was taken to Wesley Medical Center where he later died from the injuries.

Police say the victim is a documented gang member who was walking in a yard with two other gang members when an SUV drove up to them.

“One of the occupants of the vehicle yelled for him to come over to the vehicle. The victim walked to the vehicle, and upon arriving was shot,” said Lt. Todd Ojile, Wichita Police Department.

The SUV sped off.

Police say they do not have any information on the make and model.
