WICHITA, Kansas – – The Wichita Wingnuts won a couple of games Wednesday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Wichita took the suspended game with a dramatic 8 to 4 victory and took the scheduled contest 4 to 1.
In the opener, Jake Kahaulelio hit a grand-slam homer over the left field wall in the bottom of the ninth. It was the first walk-off bases loaded home run in franchise history.
In the nightcap, Junior Guerra pitched seven shutout innings to complete the sweep. Guerra struck out seven.
Ryan Khoury homered in the bottom of the first to give the Wingnuts the early lead. Wichita had the advantage the entire game.
The Wingnuts are off Thursday before embarking on a long road trip during the National Baseball Congress World Series being played at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium beginning Friday.
Wichita starts the circuit at Grand Prairie Friday night. In all, the trip this year runs 16 games over 17 days and 4,633 miles of travel.
The Wingnuts come back home August 13th to meet the Gary SouthShore RailCats.
