Wichita man killed when his car collides with a van

AUGUSTA, Kansas – A 39-year-old Wichita man was killed Tuesday night on Highway 54 near Augusta.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Department says Jeremy Jachim was driving west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 54 when he collided with a Dodge van.

Jachim died at the scene.

The 31-year-old driver of the van and a 16-year-old passenger were taken to Wesley Hospital for their injuries.

Sheriff Kelly Herzet says the weather was a likely a reason in the accident because of the heavy rain and wind that was occuring at the time.
