LEXINGTON, Kentucky (WLEX) – A woman missing in a Bath County creek has been located alive and well.

Adam Winer says he heard the woman calling out to him from the other side of Slate Creek just before 7:30 a.m. She swam across and Winer helped her out of the water to safety.

A family member says he picked Gloria Means in Montgomery County and was driving her home around 2:30 a.m. He says his cousin was upset and became more distressed as they were traveling. Means jumped out of the vehicle and went into Slate Creek.

Water rescue crews deployed boats, but eventually suspended the search due to the darkness and the high, swiftly running water.
