WICHITA, Kansas – – The Amarillo Sox blanked the Wichita Wingnuts 4 to 0 Monday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Trey Ford hit a line-drive homer in the top of fourth with Brandon Jones aboard to give the Sox the win.

Ryan Scoles took the loss for Wichita giving up three earned runs, four hits, four walks and two strikeouts in five innings of work on the mound.

Sox starter Joe Newby threw 135 pitches over eight-plus innings to notch the victory.

Game two of the three-game series is Tuesday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
