LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) – A white-haired, bespectacled drummer from Wisconsin is a hit on the Internet with more than 2 million views of her solo jam session at a Wisconsin music shop.

The video, posted on YouTube by the Coalition Drum Shop in La Crosse, is called Grandma Drummer. Although Mary Hvizda (VIZ’-dah) really isn’t a grandma, she’s embracing the celebrity status generated by her drumstick-twirling performance.

The 63-year-old Hvizda started drumming when she was 15 and has played in nearly a dozen bands. Although she’s hung up her drumsticks, Hvida says she still enjoys stopping by the drum store to satisfy her musical urge.

WKBT-TV says Hvizda is proud so many people have taken an interest in her drumming, which is a bit ironic considering she never heard of YouTube until a few days ago.
