TSA intercepts firearm at Wichita airport security checkpoint

WICHITA, Kansas – Transportation Security Officers at the Wichita Mid-Continent Airport intercepted a firearm in the carry-on bag of a passenger Thursday afternoon at the security screening checkpoint.

The firearm was the second one confiscated this year in Wichita.

The .25 caliber Targa GT firearm and magazine were unloaded.

TSA notified law enforcement-in this case and has the authority to impose a civil penalty on the passenger.

So far this year, TSA has found more than 900 firearms at checkpoints across the nation.

Firearms and ammunition, along with firearm parts and realistic replicas, are always prohibited in carry-on bags.
