WICHITA, Kansas – A Wichita man is behind bars accused of running from police then trying to run over one of them.

It all began early Friday morning when officers tried to stop a car near the 2300 block of East Central.

The driver fled, and when police tried to stop him with stop sticks at Harry and Poplar, he allegedly swerved at an officer who was able to dive out of the way.

The suspect was finally stopped at Harry and Hydraulic where the 25-year-old man tried to run away.

He was eventually caught and booked for aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer and other charges.
