HOUSTON, Texas (KPRC) – Neighbors said two vicious dogs are terrorizing families in their southwest Houston, Texas neighborhood.

“She ran to my house not knowing what else to do,” said Wes Crocker, talking about his 60-year-old sister, Jerry Elrod. “It scared her to death.”

Crocker said his sister was attacked early Monday morning while walking her dog, Bailey. Crocker’s home surveillance system caught the terrifying encounter on camera.

“She was screaming bloody murder. She was going, ‘Wes, Wes, Wes, open the door!'” Crocker said.

A camera captured the two pit bull mixes darting across the street like missiles towards Elrod and Bailey. Elrod could be seen backing away and letting go of Bailey’s leash. The dogs then chased her around a tree.

Elrod could be seen running towards her brother’s house for help. She was bit on the back of her upper left thigh. Crocker said he grabbed his paintball gun and shot both dogs to scare them away.

“She said I thought I was going to have a heart attack,” said Crocker.

Residents said later that same day, those same two dogs attacked and killed a neighbor’s cat just a few blocks away. All the owner could do was watch in horror.

“They were treating her like a piece of meat. It was horrible to see how she died,” Angela Richter said.

Nobody stepped up to owning the dog that bit Elrod. An animal control officer spoke to three people at a nearby home. Late Thursday afternoon, someone there signed the order to surrender the animal.

Since no one there wanted to pay to have the dog quarantined for ten days, it will be euthanized and tested for rabies.
