Winning Wingnuts get 13th straight

WICHITA, KANSAS – – The Wichita Wingnuts winning streak is now at 13 following a 4 to 3 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Lincoln led 3 to 2 in the fifth inning when Jake Kahaulelio scored on a John Rodriguez double. C.J. Ziegler took his first pitch down the left field line to score Rodriguez to give Wichita a 4 to 3 advantage.

Starter Justin Klipp picked the win for the Wingnuts, giving up three earned runs on eight hits in 6 and 2/3 innings. Klipp had no walk and six strikeouts on the mound.

Lincoln Holdzkom got his first save since 2007 working a scoreless final inning. who worked a scoreless ninth inning. Holdzkom set Stephen Douglas down with strikeout to end the game.

The same two teams play the second game of the series Friday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
