Royals pick up Padres shortstop

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (AP) – – The Kansas City Royals Tuesday claimed shortstop Pedro Ciriaco off waivers from the San Diego Padres.

Ciriaco was designated for assignment. He hit .238 with one home run and four RBIs in 23 games since being acquired from the Boston Red Sox on June 14.
