PITTSBURGH (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man who pleaded guilty to using the Internet to promote terrorist attacks against American military and civilian targets has been sentenced to 8 ½ years in federal prison.
Twenty-four-year-old Emerson Begolly of Redbank Township was sentenced Tuesday on one count of solicitation to commit a crime of violence. Authorities say he posted on an Islamic extremist Web forum he moderated.
He also admitted to having a loaded pistol when he allegedly bit two FBI agents who tried to question him before his arrest in 2011.
Begolly faced a mandatory minimum of five years in federal prison on the weapons charge and up to 10 years on the solicitation count.
