Red Cross shelter closed

WICHITA, Kansas – – The Midway-Kansas Chapter, American Red Cross has closed the emergency shelter located at Ruth Clark Elementary at 1900 W. 55th, which has been available for residents impacted by the East Wichita standoff. The shelter closed at noon.

The Red Cross will continue to work individually, as needed, with persons displaced by the stand-off.

“We are continuing to work with law enforcement, evacuees and other community partners to meet emergency needs,” said Bryan Saindon, Regional Disaster and Program Officer.

Anyone needing services that has not already contacted the Red Cross should call 316-219-4000.
