WICHITA, Kansas (KSN) – It’s a good ride for a good cause and the local chapter of the MS Society is letting cyclists know about it at local bike shops around Wichita.
“We know there’s an increased interest in cycling in Wichita and we want to tap into that and we want those folks to come ride our ride,” said Jason Dilts, development manager for the Mid America Chapter of the National MS Society.
This weekend, registration for the 27th annual Autumn Hills Trails Classic began at three local bicycle shops in Wichita.
Last year, 200 cyclists took part. This year, the MS Society is hoping for more to help them raise funds for MS research.
The two-day ride leaves from Pratt on September 7 offering 30, 50, and 80 mile options on day one and 30 and 50 mile options on day two.
Meals are provided. And if you break down, experts from Wichita bicycle shops will be along the route to help you fix your bike.
You can sign up at L&M Cycling and Fitness or the Bicycle X-Change July 20th. Continental Cyclery will offer registration July 27 or Lee’s Bike Shop on August 3rd.
Online registration is available at bike.Msmidamerica.org or you can call 1-800-344-4867.
They’re hoping to raise $125,000 in donations.
MS affects around 8,000 people in the Wichita area.
