DERBY, Kansas – Firefighters had trouble putting out a fire in the 600 block of South Woodlawn in Derby Thursday night.

It started just after 7 p.m.

When fire crews arrived on the scene, they saw flames coming from a house.

They went inside, but had to back out because of how strong the blaze was.

The continued to fight it, but it spread to a neighboring house.

Both fires are now out, but crews are checking for smoke on the roof.

No one was hurt in the fire.

So far, there’s no word on a cause or a damage estimate.
