Wichita police release photo of type of car used in fatal hit and run

Vehicle used in fatal hit and run.

WICHITA, Kansas — Police released a photo of a car they say that’s similar to the one that drove away from a fatal hit and run Friday night.

After analyzing debris from the accident site at 21st and Piatt, investigators believe the vehicle may have been a 2003 – 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis.

They say it was gray or silver in color and was last seen going north bound on Piatt Friday evening. It would also have front-end damage.

49-year-old Lloyd Ferguson was riding a horse with a six-year-old boy when they were hit by the sedan. Two people rushed to help and were hit by a second car.

That vehicle did stop but the first vehicle did not. Ferguson died and the horse had to be put down because of severe injuries. The boy and the two good Samaritans are still recovering in the hospital.

If you know anything about the suspect vehicle, call 316-268-4131 or 911.
