Man says he was beaten because of his red clothes

WICHITA, Kansas — A young Wichita man says he was beaten because of the color of his clothes.

The 19 year old told police he was walking alone near 25th and Coolidge around 1:30 Friday morning when four men he didn’t know attacked him.

“He stated that these white males were upset because he was dressed in all red,” said Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department. “They punched him in his head, they knocked him to the ground, they kicked him.”

Nolte says they also took the man’s cell phone, wallet, shoes and socks.

The victim got a friend to take him to the hospital for treatment.

Officers went to the area of 25th and Coolidge and couldn’t find any evidence of a struggle.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the incident to contact them. They say the four suspects may have been in a white, four-door Chevy Blazer.
