DERBY, Kansas — Police are searching for a male suspect who stabbed a woman at a 4th of July party.
It happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday in the yard at a home on the 700 block of South Woodlawn in Derby.
The victim, only described a woman in her 20′s, was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita where she was in surgery Wednesday evening and listed in serious condition, hospital officials said.
The male suspect, Jared Lee Woosypiti, fled the scene in an unidentified vehicle that Derby police believe was later recovered in Wichita, and remains on the loose. Police know his identity, but have not publicly released any information about him. Instead, they are distributing his information to neighboring law enforcement agencies to locate him, according to Derby police chief Robert Lee.
The suspect had a prior relationship with the victim, although it was unknown whether they were dating or estranged, Lee said.

May be driving a light blue 2006 Dodge Caravan with “Woodbridge Home Exteriors” on the front driver and passenger doors
