WICHITA, Kansas – The American Red Cross is working hard this Fourth of July.

The Red, White & You blood drive is taking place at the Sedgwick County Zoo’s Cargill Learning Center.

It is the sixth year for the event and is one of the largest blood drives of the year for the American Red Cross.

“This years event we hope to collect about 700 pints which would bring us to a total of about 4,000 for the past six years. So 4,000 pints is pretty incredible,” said Cari Merrill, American Red Cross Program Manager.

Presenting donors will receive free and discounted zoo admission and will get a chance to win other prizes.

If you aren’t able to make it out today, the Red Cross will be at the zoo Friday and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
