WICHITA, Kansas – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department is looking for three men who entered the Sedgwick County Fleet Maintenance parking lot and targeted three sheriff’s vehicles.

It happened Saturday morning around 3:45 a.m. in the 1000 block of West Stillwell.

Several items were stolen from inside.

“Specifically, one marked patrol unit had a window broken out and a Bushmaster M4 rifle and a Remington 870 shotgun taken,” said Lt. Dave Mattingly, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department. “One transport van had a window broken out and a Remington 870 shotgun, a sheriff coat and a GPS were taken. Last, a sheriff command vehicle was entered and a laptop computer, fire extinguisher and two flashlights were taken.”

The sheriff’s office says they are working to recover the weapons and are reviewing procedures regarding items left inside vehicles for maintenance.

“While the review process takes place, all weapons will be removed from the vehicles that are waiting service.”

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have information regarding this crime to please contact Sheriff Investigations at 660-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 267-2111.
