CALDWELL, Kansas – One person is dead and two others are injured after a fire early Wednesday morning in Caldwell.

It broke out around 2 a.m. in the 200 block of South Market Street.

The Sumner County Coroner’s office identified the victim as Dennis Lile. According to neighbors, he lived with a father and son in the home, who were injured in the blaze.

The son ran to his next-door neighbor’s house to get help after the fire broke out.

“He came over, came inside our house, we didn’t even know he was in until we heard him say, ‘Our house is on fire, call 911′. So, I did step outside, I saw his bedroom all in flames,” said Kim Friend, neighbor.

The son ran back and pulled his father out of the house, but the fire grew then too large, preventing him from getting to Lile. Caldwell firefighters then arrived and put out the fire.

The home is a total loss.

The Kansas State Fire Marshal is still investigating the fire cause.
