WICHITA, Kansas – The power may be back on after last Thursday’s storm, but that isn’t the end of the problem for one charitable group in Wichita.
When the electricity went out Thursday night at Saint Anthony Family Shelter and stayed out until Sunday afternoon, they were forced to throw out all of the food in their refrigerators and freezers.
That food is used to feed over a dozen families in need at the shelter including children out of school for the summer.
Now they say they’re in need of help.
“Now we have lost over a thousand dollars worth of food and perishable items which is how we supply all of the means of assisting our residents on a day to day basis with food throughout the week, so now we are asking for assistance with food or cash donations to be able to supply those foods to be able to help those families,” said Erica Davis SAFS program director.
