HARVEY COUNTY, Kansas – A wheat field fire has forced some evacuations near Whitewater in Harvey County Thursday afternoon.
It broke near 125th Street North and 143rd Street East.
Fire crews from Walton, Whitewater, Newton, Harvey and Sedgwick County were called to help fight the 85 acre fire.
At least one home was evacuated and so was nearby Grace Baptist Church.
Officials say the fire started as the result of a wheat combine throwing sparks.
KSN is told one firefighter from Potwin was hurt fighting the fire.
His injuries are not serious.
