Autopsy underway on 2 Ohio boys fatally shot

JACKSON, Ohio (AP) — A southern Ohio coroner says an autopsy is underway in the shooting deaths of two brothers, ages 12 and 9.

Jackson County coroner Dr. Gregory Hawker tells The Associated Press that the Franklin County coroner is conducting the autopsy. Hawker says a .44-caliber revolver was recovered in the home.

The boys were found in a bedroom Wednesday morning in their grandparents’ home, where they lived in Jackson. Hawker says he can’t comment yet on what might have led to the shootings, but authorities say no one else was at home.

The boys’ names weren’t released immediately. The Jackson city police chief and county sheriff didn’t immediately return calls.

Jackson is a city of about 7,000 people in mostly rural Appalachian Ohio, about 65 miles south of Columbus.
