ORLANDO, Florida (WESH) – A golfer accused in a severe beating in Ponce Inlet has been arrested, police said Tuesday.

A Ponce Inlet man stopped his truck Saturday after a golf ball from a nearby course hit it. Police said when 63-year-old Richard Fillingame went to confront the golfer, the golfer beat him with his fists and possibly a golf club.

It happened at the Harbour Village Links Golf Course just before 5 p.m. when Fillingame was driving along South Atlantic Avenue.

Police arrested David Barror, 43, who lives at the condominium complex on the golf course. They said he confessed to the beating.

He was charged with aggravated battery and held on $5,000 bail.

Fillingame is hospitalized in intensive care and had surgery.
