Quick start leads Wingnuts to victory


WICHITA, Kansas – – The Wichita Wingnuts used a big first inning en route to a 10 to 2 win over the Laredo Lemurs Tuesday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Ryan Khoury led off the bottom of the first with an infield single. Abel Nieves followed with a hit-and-run base hit. John Rodriguez slammed a three-run homer off the scoreboard as Wichita never looked bacik.

Brent Clevelen also hit the scoreboard in the fourth inning with a solo home run.

The Wingnuts plated four times in the seventh. C. J. Ziegler capped the inning off with a two-run double to put Wichita ahead 9 to 2.

Justin Klipp earned the win scattering six hits over seven innings pitched. Klipp struck out six and walked only one.

The series ends on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m.
