Man injured after trying to pull deer from roadway

GREAT BEND, Kansas – A 23-year-old Syracuse man was injured Monday while trying to pull a deer from a highway.

It happened late Monday night on K-156 east of Claflin.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Ford F250 pickup, driven by Braiden Samuelson, struck a deer on the road.

Meanwhile, another car, driven by 18-year-old Anthony Broeder, tried to avoid Samuelson and ended up hitting his truck.

Samuelson tried to avoid the collision by jumping in the ditch, but he was still struck by Broeder’s car.

He was taken to Great Bend Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
