WICHITA, Kansas — Emergency crews were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle accident in west Wichita that left 89-year-old Arlene Root dead.
It happened at 10:45 a.m. Monday at Central and Dougherty street.
Wichita police say Root, who was driving a 1950 Plymouth, was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others suffered only minor injuries.
They were taken to the hospital in fair condition. Both were treated and released.
The accident involved two pickup trucks and the car.
Police say one of the trucks crossed the center lane and hit another pickup and then the car.
Officials blocked off traffic in both directions on Central while they investigated the accident.
