WICHITA, Kansas — A man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after police say he was possibly jumped and robbed Friday night.

Sgt. Bruce Watts of the Wichita Police Department said the 30-year-old victim was at a barbecue at a friend’s house in the 700 block of South Beverly when he was found unconscious with injuries to his face on the front lawn.

Sgt. Watts said the man initially told police that he had had a seizure and suffered the injuries when he fell on the ground. But he later changed his story and said he couldn’t remember what happened.

Police believe he may have been attacked and robbed.

He was rushed to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition.
