SIOUX CITY, Iowa – – For the second straight night, the Wichita Wingnuts got a great performance from its starting pitcher in a 2 to 0 shutout win over the Sioux City Explorers Friday night.

Junior Guerra struck out nine matching his career high. Guerra gave up five hits and two walks in 7 1/3 innings of work.

Jake Kahaulelio and C.J. Ziegler both homered in the top of the first. The rest of the game was scoreless.

Josh Dew picked up the save. Wichita has recorded four shutout this year.

The teams square off the in the next to last game of the series Saturday night.

The Wingnuts begin a homestand Monday night.
